That will take a hands on inspection and a paid appraisal by a professional.
1. The SN must be run to determine if that's the original barrel length.
2. It must be inspected for any non-period replacement parts.
3. The list goes on and on and on and...
I understand... As this is a computer forum of course I was looking for something more informal.... I believe this to be cut down, not original barrel length. but I am not sure. Is that any chance you might direct me to a source for looking up the SN?
The Cody Museum in Wyoming is the repository of old official Winchester records. They will provide you with the information they have on your rifle... for a price.
A Model 1892 short rifle configuration was available with special order barrels of 12', 14' and 15' called a Trapper's Carbine. Most are in the 15' length and chambered in .44-40 WCF. Most of these carbines went to South America and to Australia. This is a very rare variant and almost never encountered over 30% condition - most are 'brown' guns. Prices typically vary between $3000 and if-you-have-to-ask-you-can't-afford-it.
That all depends on who wants is and how badly they want it. Ya gots ta cultivate yer clientele.
$176.00? You should be feeling okay!
