Default Colt Python 4" Stainless .357

I want to know what you all think of the Colt Python. There is a .357 Stainless 4" in PRISTINE condition (except for very slight tell tail carbon shadow on front of cylinders) for sale at my local gun shop. Should I bring it home?

    NO!

You should purchase it and send it to me. I don't care how much you have to spend on it!

Sounds good if the price is right of course.

High quality, highly sought after by shooters and collectors alike. Don't know what you paid for yours, but around here (EASTERN PA), I've seen Python prices soaring over the past couple years. Here, that piece would start around $1200. Saw a 2.5" Nickel plated piece SELL for $2000 last year.

That's a beauty, makes me wish I had worked a little extra overtime in the early '90's and picked one up while it was still being produced.

    Excellent choice

Niiiiice! Hard to come by these days, from what I hear.

Would love to know what you shelled out for it.

Thank you Wag. I don't mind telling you that I payed $1300.00 for it. Because, honestly, I'm totally blown away that I found a Python in this almost "pristine" condition. Except for a very ghost of a shadow around the front cylinders, there is no hint of this gun ever having been used. The Python has always been my "dream gun", I can't tell you how lucky and thrilled I am to have found one in this condition, and it's mine. I'm a happy man!!

I spent years whining and wishing because I hadn't bought a Python back in the day. Heck, there was no way I could afford one back then. About 10-12 yrs ago I saw a 99%+ specimen (in box/all paper) at a gun show that a family was selling after Grandpa died. Picked it up for $700.00 I've been a happy camper ever since. In today's market, I've seen revolvers in less than 80% condition fetching more than that.

I have to say -- even as a Smith & Wesson guy -- that the double action is the absolute smoothest, most natural squeeze I have ever felt and overall feel and accuracy cannot be beat. Yeah, I love my S&Ws, but my Python can keep up with any of them for beauty, handling or accuracy.

Ringo, you made an outstanding decision in purchasing that Python. You will not be disappointed.
