    Default Rare Gun information?

    Hello everyone,

I believe I might have a strange request here. Let me set the stage a little before I ask my question.

My wife and have both recently received our LTCs and have started going target shooting on occasion. I bought a Ruger 1911 for my first gun and I love it, but she is still apprehensive about buying her first gun. For her it's not so much about capability as it is about "cool factor" and she just hasn't found one she likes.

So I want to surprise her with something that I think will read off the charts in terms of cool factor for her. She's an extreme fan girl of The Walking Dead TV show and I thought it would be cool to find her one of the guns some of the main characters use.

Now while I'd love to get her Rick's 6" Colt Python, I can't stretch for the $2000+ price tag on it. The Governor's Beretta 92SB however, I thought would be a little more reasonable, but I can't seem to find much information on it other than that it is "rare"

How rare are we talking here? I haven't physically gone "shopping" for one yet because I don't know much about them, but I can't seem to find any on auction sites or really much information about them at all.

If anyone here knows something about these, price, capacity(Think I read 13-16?), anything really, I'm looking for one in a Nickel finish.

I believe they have a 16rd capacity. I didn't see any of the 92SBs on any of the auction sites either, maybe you could try a Beretta 92FS like Carl uses? They're way more common.

Just in case you were wondering, Maggie uses a Walther P99, Glen uses a Glock 19, Rick also uses a Glock 17 on occasion, Daryl carried a Browning BDA for a while, Lori used a Colt Detective Special, Shane had a Mossberg 590 and a Glock (I believe a 17), and that's all i can remember off the top of my head

Beretta 92SB, as submitted for the JSSAP competition.

This was the pistol originally submitted for US Military testing. The M9 (92FS) was the pistol modified to meet acceptance standards.

It was blued and had round trigger guard. There were no serrations on the trigger nor on the trigger guard, It also had the magazine safety moved from the heel to the rear of the trigger guard. The bottom of the grip frame was straight and not flared.

These pistols were all Italian made. They are rather rare and collectable pistols.
The difference between a Socialist and a Communist is that the Socialist doesn't have all the guns yet.

    Default Beretta Model 92 SB

The Beretta Model 92 SB is a 9mm. Parabellum semi automatic pistol designed for military and police use, and for civilian use in countries where it is legitimate. Its great volume of fire, combined with absolutely flawless reliability and safety, make it an ideal side arm for modern armies and police forces. From this weapon has now derived the Model 92 SB Compact, which retains virtually all the characteristics of the 92 SB but is shorter and lower, for easier carrying in a shoulder holster or in civilian dress. It is also ideal for personal defence because it offers such vast fire power from a relatively small weapon.

From what I know of this specific model, and in mint condition at this moment sold in Turkey, somewhere around 500.00. us$
I had one sample gun years ago. It was the nicest, most accurate compact handgun I have ever tried out. It looks exactly like the 92 C (Compact) which held 13 rounds. Except the M has a slimmer grip (single row mag).

(Used the Beretta original manual for pictures and specs, rest autobiographical info)

Thanks a lot for the information everyone. Unfortunately I just double checked and this gun isn't legal in MA due to the capacity... Man I hate this state.

    Thanks again everyone

    Prototype,
The pistol you have been searching for is very rare and not many exist here in the states or in Europe. The Beretta 92sb compact in nickel has sold at auction between $500 to over $1000 (todays market would bring much much more due to rarity). I purchased a 92SB in nickel with several nickel magazines, the original plastic grips, and wood deluxe grips which is what is on it currently. Over the years I have owned many 92SB blued models but this is the only nickel I have come across. According to Beretta's records the serial number dates to the last year of production for the SB models...I was amazed to see one used in the Walking Dead series! I will post a few images of this pistol here on this forum. I apologize but these are cel phone images.

Feel free...but dont just search Beretta threads besides checking dates etc. In last three years surely she has bought something by now...carry on...
edit - plus check all posts besides original, he had discovered they're illegal in MA (capacity)

IIRC, you can get 10 round mags for a 92FS...

The Ruger GP100 with the 6-inch full lug barrel is a 650$

alternative to the more expensive Colt Python, and is a near

dead ringer, to any but the experts.
