In regards to killing large animals, what do you feel is the most powerful gun you own?

Also, no shotguns. Almost everybody owns a 12 gauge capable of shooting slugs, which would make this a boring thread ?

For me it would be my 54 Cal Hawkins BP rifle. We've Coronagraphed a 530 Grain conical at over 1400fps from the thing with a magnum load. At range my most powerful gun would probably be my Mosin Nagant.

I bought mine in 2011 and have made no changes to it ... but that Gel pad sounds like a fine idea :yesnod1: I don't take it out much anymore except when i feel cranky with the coyotes  and its not something that you would want to spend an entire afternoon with ... up here it costs $5.00 every time i pull the trigger , but its nice to have if something needs to be knocked down permanently .

I think his came with the gel pad and not sure when he got it but i would have to say it was well after you. Pretty sure it's about $3-5 every time he shoots his depending on what he's feeding it. Even the re loads are expensive.

350 Remington Magnum is my most current most powerful rifle of which I have two. With a 200gr bullet it has 3,008 ft per second for Velocity and 4,019 ft-lbs of energy. I did have a 458 win mag but decided no Elephants were going to invade so, I sold it.
I also have a 30-06 as well.

A couple of 40 cal with a 45acp thrown in for good measure to round out the handguns.

With my Ruger No. 1 in .458 Win magnum, I was loading 500 grain bullets to 2150 fps. This produced about 5135 ft-lbs muzzle energy. I had my smith put a Pachmyr decelerator recoil pad on it before I ever fired it. It was a lot fun and never saw a round of factory ammo until I sold it.
