Default Is a $15 all purpose cleaning kit any good?

I need a cleaning kit for my pistol. I also have shotguns and a .22 rifle. Should I buy dedicated cleaning kits or is a all-purpose kit just as good even though it is a cheaper way to go? Do the brass brushes wear out faster in a cheap kit? Is a Meijer or Walmart kit any good or do I need to spend more to be lastingly satisfied?

A general purpose cleaning kit should do the trick. You may have to get a small bore brush for the .22 is all.

The effort you put into the work is a lot more important than the kit you use!!

Most of the cheap cleaning kits come with aluminum cleaning rods (bad) and pretty poor to mediocre supplies.

I got a cheap-o Hoppe's cleaning kit that works for my 10/22 but I also got a better rod for it ... this one actually which works really well and comes with a nice little muzzle guard cone which most do not come with. I wanted a one piece that was coated so I got this ...
