Default red dot sight for smith & wesson m&p Good or bad idea

Recently purchased a m&p 9mm and am considering a red dot like the burris fastfire 2 that mounts in place of the rear sight. Mainly looking to get a more precise aiming system. The gun shoots well at 30yds but i feel as though the standard 3 dot system lends itself to faster less pinpoint shots. Will a red dot like this enable me to put more precise shots down range or is it going to be the same end result with a fancy looking sight. Also do the really hold up to a lot of shooting? I plan on putting thousands of rounds through this gun. Thanks, nick.

I thinkthe Trijicon RMR is a much more robust sight for you purpose. One Souce Tactical does these installs by milling your slide and also offers suppressor sights as a back-up.

I don't know how much better you will be able to shoot, but it should be an improvement. The Fastfire should be a tough sight and stand up to the pounding. You can lock the adjustments in after you sight it in so it won't drift. Plus it is half the price of a Trijicon, although the Trij is a great sight too. I just wouldn't want to need my slide milled.

    Here you go...

This guy had a delta point installed. Most folks are rolling with the RMR or the Deltapoint.
