We've inherited my Grandfather's .348 and I am curious if anyone has experience with this somewhat rare gun. I'd love to hear any stories,

My Grandpa bought it before WWII, and shot many deer with it when he got back.

I'm hoping to do the same starting next season.

The rifle has been dismantled and cleaned, it's in great shape. It does have a side-mounted scope so it's not a collector's item by any means.

I intend to hunt with it and take care of it for my two boys to use years from now.

Snafu, we are going to get some shells and make sure the rifle is sighted in soon.

When we do that I will take some photos. It's 4 hours north of my current location.

Even with a side mounted scope, a Model 71 Winchester in operating condition is collectable. Maybe not as much as one never removed from box or fired, but it's still worth a bunch more as a collectable than a lot of rifles.

Everything said about them says they're really neat hunting rifles, as well.
