My name is Philip, I work for VerticalScope.com. VerticalScope recently acquired nationalgunforum.com and will be taking over the management duties of the forum. Your familiar moderator and admin team will be the same people helping with the day to day forum management. We will primarily manage the technical functions of the site and support the mod team. Maintaining continuity as well as the spirit of the site is important to us. This means that little about the site will change for you the user while we continue to grow the community.

Over the next few days you will notice my team mates Helena and Kyle who will be helping me with the site announcements as well as members of our support team (they will introduce themselves in the site issues section). While we get to know the landscape of the forum and how things work we will be on hand to answer questions and get to know the unique needs of this community.

I will be working closely with the Admin/Mod team on ways we can help improve the order of things here and raise the level of your experience on nationalgunforum.com.

If you have questions please let me know, I will do my best to answer you all as quickly and thoroughly as I can.

-Philip

Verticalscope.com is the company that purchased the forum. I am open to suggestions you might have for the site and to make your experience here better. You will notice some new admin accounts helping behind the scenes mostly.

As long as you support the first as well second amendment. There have been some rollicking good exchanges here because the Mods have been generous enough to let us talk.

If you want improve something... I've never been able to get the games section to work for me.

Select game room and I get "plugin not supported"

Select arcade and I see normal screen, but get same message when selecting a particular game.

I'm accessing with a Kindle Fire using Fire OS 5.1.2 updated 4-26-2016

Well there's your problem. The tablet doesn't have flash. If you have a version of google Chrome that will run on the tablet it would probably work since Chrome has a built in flash player. a Kindle isn't a 'real' computer. it's designed to read books with and do basic internet browsing. Not play internet games with.

No indication of flash or java actions. Under Security, I have disallowed apps from unknown sources. Don't know if that would kill something running in browser window

Hello Admin.I go in the chat room a lot, that's what i like and some of the other members like it also.It would be nice if you could pull aside to a private chat room to chat with certain people like they have in other chat rooms.Because this chat room can get pretty full.Thank You.

Welcome to the forum to all of the new Admins. If I could make one suggestion/request, please acknowledge what a great job our current Mods and Admins have been doing. They have kept the forum running great and monitoring things. Generally speaking, everyone is happy and we all get along well. My Dad used to tell me, "If it ain't broken don't fix it".

Philip, Will verticalscope.com place tracking cookies on my computer?

#42 ·
The cookies that will go on your computer will amount to the following as they always have, keeping you logged in is maintained by a cookie, tracking what threads are still new to you is a cookie, what little ads there are on the site presently may come with their own cookies as it's typically a metric for sponsors to know their ad is firing to x number of people. I say may on that one because I don't know if that particular cookie is active here.

Philip, You failed to inform the members that the Toronto Star newspaper owns 56% of the company and they are very much anti gun. You also failed to inform the members that the company has recently bought the following and attempting to buy more:
defensivecarry
airsoftsniper
AK Forum
nationalgunforum
theakforum
sniperforums
marlinowners
68forums
masscops
xdtalk
waltherforums
prepperforums
austinbassfishing
newjerseyhunter
polarisfiles
trapshooters
taurusarmed
coltforum
fnforum
Florida Concealed Carry forum
Sig Talk
M&P Forum
M-14 Firing Line
H&K Pro
S&W Forum

My question is; Why would a anti gun organization purchase pro-gun web sites. Oh, when do paid memberships kick in?

TorStar didn't buy the site, we did. Verticalscope is still run and managed but it's own CEO and respective hierarchy of teams. TorStar's ownership is that of an investor, a silent partner, so long as they get a return on said investment they leave us to our own devices. Paid memberships won't kick in unless you guys ask for one, and in that presently unlikely event we only run pay for perk memberships, not pay to play. :)

Think positive, the administrator took the weekend off. We will find out Monday :cornut:

Of course they would. But I never said they would be shutting them down. You assumed by worst that, that was what I meant. Not so. The worst can mean several other things. Mainly tracking information.

It may prove wise to wait for an 'official reply' before screaming off the edge of the cliff.

I have done a little research into our new owners and await their employee's reply to the questions(s) at hand.

Odd, but administrators on other newly acquired sites have been very active and have attempted to answer most questions. My research into TorStar and VerticalScope has raised more concerns as to the direction management will take. Today is a new day, maybe we will get an answer or two.
