First of all tell me if this should be in the class 3 section.

Anyways I was shooting with my Gamo 1000 and came to the realization that it is really loud, for a pellet gun atleast and I was wondering if I tried to make a suppressor for it whether or not it would be illegal. If it is legal then any ideas for design would be great.

Oh and has anybody put multiple bbs in their break barrel for a shotgun effect?

I don't know about the supressor, I would think it is the same as doing it on a rimfire or centerfire gun.

I used to put many BB's down the barrel of the Crossman I had as a kid, but never in the break barrel high speed guns I have now.

I would avoid putting a supressor on anything unless you have proper clearance and paperwork.

I have put multiple BBs in the barrel of junk guns when I was younger. Accuracy and power always suffered. It just isn't as awesome in practice as it is in your head when you think it up.

Gamo manufactures a pellet gun with a built in suppressor. Gander mountain actually let me test fire one in there little bow testing range. The test may have been skewed by the fact that I was in a little enclosed room, but it wasn't much quieter.

as i understand it, as long as the silencer is permanately attached to the air gun its legal to own with no tax stamp. if it can be removed, obviously it could be put on a firearm and that makes it class 3. the gamo whisper is a little quieter than its counterpart. a little. and its about $100 more. compared to say a 40mm bofurs gun, an air rifle just aint that loud. its your call have a nice day

I've made "suppressors" for a CO2 gas gun of mine, and it actually worked. Used cardboard, tissue paper, and duct tape. The first ones I made had the gun making a lower pitched sound, and then as I improved my "mad skills" it got t the point where the only sound you could really hear was the action working.
